iBreath - DWI / DUI Breathalyzer for your iPod and iPhone?
For a mere $79, you can own your own breathalyzer - the iBreath- that plugs into either you iPhone or iPod. The product was designed to prevent drunk driving and driving while intoxicated.
How does it work? You simply plug the device into your iPhone or iPod and blow into the retractable blow stick. In less than three seconds, a reading appears on your screen indicating your breath alcohol level. If the level is above 0.08 (the legal limit in Texas for a DWI), an alarm sounds to alert you that you should not be driving while intoxicated.
Obvious questions remain about the accuracy of the iBreath. As a Houston, Texas DWI lawyer, I battle the State of Texas about its breath testing program daily. The Great State of Texas has yet to provide sound scientifically validated testing procedures for all of its breath test machines that are used in DWI cases. I am a bit skeptical about this product, but the jury is still out on it.
