Texas Longhorn Baseball Coach Arrested for DWI
The leading wins coach in Division I baseball was arrested last week on suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated in Austin, Texas. Garrido has over 1,600 wins and has led the Texas Longhorns to national championships in 2002 and 2005. Prior to coaching at the University of Texas, Garrido coached Cal State - Fullerton to national championships three times.
After his arrest, Garrido acknowledged that he had made a huge mistake and while leaving his lawyer's office told the Austin American Statesman, "There's a price to pay. I'm going to pay it"
Unlike a lot of citizens think, the high powered University of Texas baseball coach received no special treatment from the Austin Police Department. The DWI / DUI task force investigated the case just like any other DWI / DUI.
