Charles Barkley Pleads Guilty to DWI / Drunk Driving Charles Barkley Pleads Guilty to DWI / Drunk Driving

Charles Barkley is turning the page in his drunk driving case. In a plea deal with the Government, Barkley has admitted that he was driving while intoxicated.

After being arrested and charged with drunk driving, Charles Barkley pleads guilty to Driving While Intoxicated and agrees to jail time.  According to reports, Barkley's breath test result showed that he was almost twice the legal limit of 0.08.

Someone might ask, why would Barkley agree to jail time for a first offense DWI?  The reality in many cases is that a short jail sentence for some people is much better than a probation.  A probation in a DWI/ DUI often has many restrictions that would substantially effect a person's ability to perform his job.  One of the many restrictions that is commonly placed a someone serving Drunk Driving probation is the person is not allowed to leave the county or state where they live.  For Barkley, this would mean that he would not be allowed to travel to the studio in New York or to any of the basketball games outside of Arizona.
