Rookie MLB Pitcher Killed by Suspected Drunk Driver Rookie MLB Pitcher Killed by Suspected Drunk Driver

Just hours after pitching in his first Major League Baseball game, Anaheim Angel's starting pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed by a suspected drunk driver.

Along with two others, Anaheim Angel's starting pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed by a suspected drunk driver on his way home from the ballpark after pitiching in his first big league game.  Manager Mike Scioscia commented, "It is a tragedy that will never be forgotten." 

According to reports, Adenhart was the riding as a passenger in a vehicle that was struck when the allegedly drunk driver ran a red light and broadsided the vehicle.  The car Adenhart was is then collided with another vehicle.  The driver of the minivan that ran the red light then fled the scene of the accident, but was arrested about 30 minutes later.  Police identified the driver of the minivan as 22 year old Andrew Gallo.  According to police, Gallo was driving with a suspended license from a previous driving while intoxicated / DWI / DUI conviction.

Early results showed that Gallo's blood alcohol level was substantially over the legal limit of 0.08.  Gallo is being held on 3 counts of murder, felony hit and run 3 counts of intoxication manslaughter and felony driving under the influence / DWI / DWI and is being held without bond.  Pending further investigation, more charges may be filed.
